With a body of work spanning twenty-five years that includes photography, artist books, sculpture, painting and installation, Alastair Whitton has explored multiple mediums and processes. His works are essentially concerned with notions of structural composition, the materiality of form and the ways in which we see and make sense of the world.

He graduated with distinction from the (then) Natal Technikon School of Fine Art in Durban, South Africa in 1994 and was awarded the Emma Smith Scholarship to further his studies at the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland.
